Luke 20:20-26
In our lives, what belongs to God? What are we giving back? What should we be giving back?
Render = give back, commit, yield, give away
I. Some "render" His words as holy while others try to "ensnare" Him only to ensnare themselves (v.20)
A. Matthew 22:15 = ensnare
B. Mark 12:13 = catch or take
C. Luke 20:20 - catch Him in order to knock Him down
II. Some render "tribute" to Him while others hold back only to be deprived of God's blessings
A. Caesare's image = idolatry & slavery to Jesus
B. tribute = a load or burden placed on a person for assessment
III. What deserves rendering to the Lord?
A. Our souls - God created our souls and deserves them back glorifying Him
B. Our admirations - His grace and mercy and forgiveness are forever toward us
C. Our heart's desires - our changed lives, our hope for living, our dying breath, our faith for tomorrow, our accomplishments and defeats, our daily strength

What are the characteristics of a godless generation?
Why does God "feel" so far removed from this generation?
I. Overabundance of prideful thoughts and ways (v.2)
A. They persecute the poor - God's way of dealing with it -- let them be caught in their own actions (v.2)
B. They boast of their evil ambitions and goals for live - material covetousness -- God despises convetousness (idolatry) (v.3)
C. They refuse to acknowledge God and make sport of those who do (v.4)
D. They are a generation that judges others (v.5)
E. They are overly self-sufficient and self-confident (v.6)
F. They are filled with cursing and slander (v.7)
G. They look for ways to put others down and take advantage of the poor (v.8-10)
H. They have convinced themselves that they will not be held responsible for their actions - today, tomorrow, or ever (v.11-13)
I. They are motivated by mischief and spite (v.14a)
II. The thoughts and way of the Godly
A. Commit themselves to the Lord and His ways (v.14b)
B. God will overcome the ungodly (v.15)
C. God will dispel the ungodly from His presence (v.16)
D. God listens to those who humble themselves and He helps them (v.17)
E. God helps the poor and oppressed (v.18)
Which way will you choose? A Godly path or a wicked one? The choice is yours
